A childhood vaccine for bacterial pneumonia. Among other invasive pneumococcal diseases, such as meningitis, is now recommended for all US children. The vaccine—Prevnar—is now available in at least 60 countries and has been shown to reduce the incidence of pneumococcal illnesses in adults as well.
