Statins and Eyes
Statin drugs protect your eyes as well as your heart. Millions of Americans take atorvastatin (Lipitor), simvastatin (Zocor) or other statins to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Recent finding: Statins are associated with a 45% decreased risk of nuclear cataracts—the most common kind of cataracts—which affect the central portion of the eye.
