Knee Repair
Removing all or part of a damaged meniscus (a pad of cartilage in the knee joint), a common procedure to ease arthritis pain, may result in further wear and tear on the joint and loss of cartilage in the knee.
Better: Except in some cases such as a locked knee, nonsurgical strategies to alleviate knee pain may be more effective. These include weight loss...braces...shoes that prevent foot pronation, or flattening. . . and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen (Advil).
