Glucose Monitor Updates
New apps share glucose levels. The FDA recently approved the first set of mobile medical apps that allow people with diabetes to automatically and securely share data from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) with other people in real time using iPhones or other Apple devices.
How it works: With Dexcom Share Direct Secondary Displays, a sensor is implanted beneath the skin and glucose levels in the fluid around cells are tracked. An alert is sent when levels are dangerously high or low.
Helpful: CGM data can be shared with up to five people, such as family members, caregivers and doctors.
