Fish oil can help your heart despite a report to the contrary, says Michael D. Ozner, MD. A recent study found that taking fish oil pills, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, didn't appear to prevent heart attacks or stroke. But the study (which was a review of previous studies) actually demonstrated that fish oil was beneficial in preventing death from heart disease.

Bottom line: Fish oil reduces inflammation, a factor in heart disease...is FDA-approved to lower harmful triglycerides... and has a very low risk for side effects.
