Diet Soda Danger
If you're hoping to keep your waist trim by drinking diet soda, watch out! According to a nine-year study of nearly 500 adults ages 65 and older, daily diet soda drinkers had more than a threefold increase in waist circumference compared with people who did not drink diet soda. Diet soda is linked to an increase in belly fat, which raises the risk for diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Possible reason: Artificial sweeteners may interfere with glucose metabolism.
