Chicken Lowers Colon Cancer Risk
In a study of 1,520 people, those who ate the most chicken (an average of four servings daily) had a 21% lower risk for colorectal adenomas (growths that can be precursors of colon cancer) than those who ate the least chicken (less than one serving daily).
Theory: Chicken eaters may consume smaller amounts of processed meat, which has been found to increase colon cancer risk.
Self-defense: Substitute chicken for processed meats, such as cold cuts and hot dogs.
