Better Glucose Monitoring in the Hospital

The FDA recently approved the use of the Nova StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System-which quickly monitors blood sugar for all hospitalized patients, including those who are critically ill. Accurate monitoring and blood glucose control are important for all hospital patients to reduce complications and length of stay and to speed recovery after surgery. The system was originally approved in 2006 for monitoring outpatients enrolled in hospital diabetes control programs.
