Alzheimer's and Exercise
A recent study of subjects older than age 64 concluded that those who were doing the widest variety of exercise were the least likely to develop dementia, most commonly caused by Alzheimer's disease. The activities that were surveyed were the 15 most frequently performed by older adults, including gardening, raking, hiking and bowling.
Possible explanation: A variety of activities may keep more parts of the brain active.
